Alberta Jane Hughes

Alberta Jane Hughes, 69, of New Castle, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Sunday. She was born April 20, 1955, in New Castle, a daughter of the late Ralph Howard and Tillie (Dunn) Yost.

A graduate of Chrysler High School, Alberta worked at Heritage House Nursing Home for over 15 years in the food service department, and also worked in food service at the Henry County Youth Center. She enjoyed collecting, especially Longaberger baskets and Home Interior décor. She also loved cats and enjoyed listening to music. She was a member of the First Christian Church in New Castle.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her son, Chris Hughes of New Castle; a nephew, Toney (Neenah) Spiker of New Castle, two nieces, Debbie (Jeff) Polston of Largo, FL and Lori Spiker of Greensburg; great nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she as preceded in death by her husband, Robert J. Hughes.

Services will be at 1:00 p.m., Friday, November 15, 2024, at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service with Pastor Luke Witham officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., when the service begins. Memorial contributions may be given to the First Christian Church, 2000 Bundy Ave., New Castle, IN 47362.
