Alice M. Davis, 90, of Carthage, went home to the Lord on Tuesday, November 1, 2011 at Springhurst Health Campus in Greenfield. She was born August 18, 1921 in Johnson County, IN the daughter of Charles and Emma Mae (Mason) Pettit.
She helped farm with her husband for many years. A homemaker, she was a member of the Carthage Fireman’s Auxiliary, a member of the Union Chapel Church in St. Paul and also attended Fletcher Methodist Church in Carthage. She loved reading, cross stitching, crocheting, dancing, sewing and was a wonderful cook.
She is survived by six children: Darrel D. (wife, Anne) Davis of Ruskin, FL; Alvin H. Davis of New Castle; Martha A. West of Greenfield; Carl M. (wife, Phyllis) Davis of Greenfield; Kay (husband, Dahl) Petry of Arlington; Ruth (husband, Jerry) May of Arlington; 15 grandchildren 30 great grandchildren, several step grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Harold A Davis; 2 grandchildren: Larry A. Davis and Stephen M. Petry; two brothers: Harry Pettit and Richard Mason.
Services will be at 10:30 AM Saturday, November 5, 2011 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel with Reverends Roger Campbell and David Bonne officiating. Burial will follow in Arlington East Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the donor’s favorite charity. Friends may call from 4-8 PM Friday, November 4.
