Alice Mae French

August 1, 1912 — April 24, 2011

Alice Mae French, 98, of Knightstown, passed away Sunday, April 24, 2011 at Flatrock River Lodge in Rushville. She was born August 1, 1912 in Rush County the daughter of Arthur and Goldie (Davis) Parker.

She was formerly employed at H.P. Wasson Company and McGrady Furniture in New Castle. She had also been a farm wife and was a 50 year member of the Order of Eastern Star, Sunshine Club, and Martha Washington Home Ec Club. She was a member of the East St. Christian Church in Carthage. She loved shopping, enjoyed decorating, cooking and entertaining. She belonged to a Euchre Club in Rush County for over 50 years and was an avid reader.

She is survived by a daughter: Janet (husband: Ronald) Sullivan of Carthage; a son: Lowell (wife: Marlene) French of Carthage; 7 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; one nephew; special friend: Jane Farringer of Spiceland.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Elmer C. French in 1990; a daughter: Judy Sutton; an infant son: Bobby Eugene; a brother: John Parker.

Services will be at 11:00 AM Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel with Reverends David Bonne and Jim Lawler officiating. Burial will follow in Zion Cemetery in Raleigh. Friends may call from 4-8 PM Tuesday, April 26, 2011.
