Alice Helen (Johnson) Hart, 93, of New Castle, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, February 07, 2010 at Heritage House Convalescent Center. She was born March 14, 1916 in Winchester, a daughter of the late Herschel and Maude (Grindle) Johnson.
A member of the Northside Church of God in Muncie, Alice was known by all to always have a gentle spirit and seldom get upset. She enjoyed flowers, birds, trees and nature in general. She enjoyed babysitting for many and also loved animals and in addition to cats, had pets such as raccoons, an owl and a crow.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter, Ann Bell of New Castle; a son, Asel (wife, Joyce) Hart of New Castle; four grandchildren, Rhonda Jarvis of Cowan, Gina (husband, David) Phillips of Yorktown, Jennifer Winchester of New Castle, and Daniel Hart of New Castle; ten great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Herschel Johnson and Maude Johnson Hite, her husband, Cletus “Pete†Hart; two brothers, Nevin and Richard Johnson; a sister, Janice Armstrong.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 11, 2010 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service with Phil Reynolds officiating. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery in Windsor. Friends may call from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to the Henry County Humane Society/Animal Shelter, 11 Midway Drive, New Castle, IN 47362, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
