Alice-Mae Lykins Apple, 94, of Spiceland, died Friday, September 26, 2008 in her home. She was born February 2, 1914 in Spiceland, Indiana to the late Sylvester and Laura (Caldwell) Lykins.
A 1932 graduate of Spiceland High School, she was a birthright Quaker and a member of the Spiceland Friends Meeting her entire life. A loving mother and grandmother, she enjoyed sitting on her front porch and hosting Sunday dinners for the family.
Survivors include two daughters: Judy (husband: Linville) Sadler of Falmouth, IN and Joyce Rossman of Spiceland; a son: Junior Apple of Spiceland; six grandchildren: Brian (wife: Debbie) Kiger of McKinney, TX, Brent (wife: Shannan) Kiger of Plainfield, IL, Bridget (husband: Josh) Lee of Austin, TX, Brandon Kiger of Austin, TX, Mike (wife: Mindy) Rossman of Kennard and Kimberly Rossman of Baltimore, MD; eleven great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; a sister-in-law: Rose Lykins of Brownsburg.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years: Leroy Apple; a sister: Grace Lykins; two brothers: Earl and Arthur Lykins.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 1, 2008 at the Spiceland Friends Meeting. Burial will follow in Center Cemetery near Mays, Indiana. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, September 30, 2008 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle.
