Alice J. Moore

Alice J. (Begley) Moore, 85, of New Castle passed away Thursday, February 20, 2025 at Henry Community Health of New Castle. She was born September 5, 1939 in Wise County, Virginia to the late Ted H. and Ruby G. (McGuire) Begley. They moved to Anderson in 1953 and she graduated from Markleville High School in 1957. Alice furthered her education at Indiana Business College and graduated in 1958. She was then hired by the State of Indiana as a secretary to the Vocational Rehabilitation Division and worked there for several years prior to having a family.

Alice married her high school sweetheart, Ronald D. Moore on July 9, 1961. They were blessed with three sons. Together they integrated into the Knightstown Community. Alice was very active in her son’s school activities which included being a Cub Scout Den Mother, President of the Band Boosters and an Athletic Booster. Alice was a member of several organizations, past president of Alpha Zeta chapter of Tri Kappa, past president of Home Economics Club and the Past Matron of Order of Eastern Star. She was later employed at the First National Bank of Knightstown.

Alice was an active member of Cadiz Christian Church where she served on the Finance Team and enjoyed being a part of the Senior Saints activities. She also enjoyed traveling and spending the winter months in Florida. Other hobbies included reading, word puzzles and spending time with family and friends.

She leaves to cherish her memory three sons, Jeffrey A. Moore of Brownsburg, J. Andrew (Kellie) Moore of Indianapolis and David H. Moore (Rozel) of Keller, Texas; grandchildren, Joshua, Brittany, Trevor, Maggie and Ethan; brother and sister-in-law, Tim and Betty Begley; sister-in-law Janet Begley; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents Alice was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Ronald D. Moore; daughter-in-law, Cindy R. Moore; brother, Ted Begley Jr.; in-laws, Wayne and Florence Moore; brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Sammie Moore.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 27, 2025 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Jeff Johnson and Pastor Greg Robbins officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery, West Lawn Addition. Visitation will be from 4:00 ~ 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at the funeral home.
