Alma I. Smith Hale, 86, formerly of Sulphur Springs, passed away Friday, November 15, 2013 at The Waters of New Castle. She was born May 23, 1927 in New Castle the daughter of the late Porter and Margaret Marie (Crume) Smith.
She had been a member of the Sulphur Springs Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed traveling, working puzzles and playing Bingo.
Survivors include a daughter, Marcia Hale Ashworth of Lapel; her granddaughter, Kimberley (husband, Larry) Morris of Lapel; great grandson, Raven Morris of Lapel; a sister, Arlene Smith of Westfield; sisters-in-law: Ruby Hale of Golden, CO and Wilma Hale of Denver, CO; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her late husband of 59 years: Francis Hale; brother, William Smith; sister, Nellie Smith; sisters-in-law: Catherine Smith, Phoebe Hale and Thelma Hale; brother-in-law: Jesse Junior Hale.
Services will be at 1:00 PM Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Kimberley Morris officiating. Burial will follow in Miller Cemetery in Middletown. Friends may call from 12:00-1:00 PM prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to The Waters Activities Department, 1000 N 16 St. New Castle, IN 47362.
