Alma Pearl Sorrell, age 91, of New Castle, passed away Monday, February 29, 2016 at the Addison Place in New Castle. She was born August 27, 1924 in Bath County, Kentucky to the late William Harrison and Eliza (Cook) Tinsley.
She had been a member of Spiceland Pike Church of God (formerly “N” Avenue Church of God) for many years. Pearl loved her family and in her own words, “her greatest achievement in life was raising her two boys.” She enjoyed church friends, gospel music, gardening and canning vegetables.
Survivors include her sons, Billy (Tonya) Sorrell of New Castle and Randy Sorrell (Meg Fitzsimmons) of McCordsville; five grandchildren, Mary Beth (Herb) West of Springport, Ruth Ann (Chris) LaMar of Hagerstown, Sara Sorrell-Wiltsche of New Castle, and her husband, Clemens Wiltsche, Sydney Sorrell of Chicago and Sawyer Sorrell of McCordsville; great grandchildren, Kelsey, Molly, and Chloe West, Brooklyn, Bryce, Brady, and Briella LaMar; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Sorrell in 1985; great granddaughter, Brynlee LaMar; three sisters and two brothers.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday, March 4, 2016 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Burial will follow in Green Hills Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. noon until time of service at 2:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
