Alvis G. Hoots, age 84, of New Castle, went to meet the Lord and into the arms of his loving wife of 53 years, Lottie Hoots Wednesday, April 18, 2012. Alvis was born May 31, 1927 in Albany, Kentucky to the late Herbert and Abigail (Sells) Hoots.
He retired from Chrysler Corporation in 1980 after 30 years of service, and was a member of UAW Local #371 and was also a member of the Grand Masonic Lodge #206 F and AM of Albany, Kentucky. Alvis was an avid fisherman and gardener and loved sharing his bounty with his family and neighbors. He loved teasing, telling jokes and playing with his great granddaughter LeLe (Shanelle).
He leaves to cherish his memory, his daughter, Pam Hoots of New Castle; grandson, Ray (wife, Kim) Caywood of New Castle; granddaughter, Amber Caywood of New Castle; great granddaughter, LeLe (Shanelle) Davis; sisters, Colene (husband, John) Wallace of Spiceland, Wanda Taylor of Louisville, KY, Wayman (wife, Mary) Hoots of New Castle and JR (wife, Velda) Hoots of Indianapolis; sister-in-law, Carla Hoots of New Castle; many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors including David and Shelia McKinney and Joe Scott and family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lottie B. (Long) Hoots; sisters, Doris Jean, Opal Martin, Vida Jennings, and Vera Wallace; brothers, Clifford Hoots, Harold Hoots; great granddaughter, Amari N. Caywood.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 21, 2012 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Reverend Henry Weaver officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hills Memory Gardens. A Masonic service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 20, 2012 at the funeral home. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Friday, April 20, 2012 at the funeral home.
