Amy Dawn Garrett, 59, a resident of New Castle passed away Thursday, February 6, 2025 at the Waters of New Castle. She was born March 14, 1965 in New Castle to the late Willie Ryan Garrett and Patricia (Carter) Peyton.
A 1983 graduate of New Castle Chrysler High School, she also graduated from Amber’s Beauty School in New Castle. Amy had worked at Hills Dept. Store in New Castle as well as Ames and Grants in previous years. She enjoyed watching television and was a movie buff. She collected purses and liked painting ceramic figurines. She loved Mexican food, jewelry, make up and visiting with family. Amy also had a great sense of humor and was quite the jokester.
Survivors include sister, Gina (Mike) Garrett-Lowe of New Castle; step-mother, Paulette Garrett of New Castle; step-sister; Lisa Neal (Jack Grizzel) of New Castle; step-brother, Bradley (Robin) Phelps of Indianapolis; step-sister, Candi Chambers (Tracey Smalley) of New Castle; nieces, Taylor Crandall (Chad Butler) of Muncie, Lauren Lowe of New Castle, Mackenzie Garrett (Alex Goldsberry) of Bloomington; nephew: Nickolas Crandall (Sam Rose) of Connersville; aunts and uncles: Mike (Lynne) Carter of New Castle, Sonny (Pat) Carter of New Castle, Joyce Papenhaus of Sellersburg, IN, Sue (Willie) Rose of Burkesville, KY, Debra Garrett of Albany, KY, sister-in-law: Becky (Mike) Clay of Warsaw, several cousins and her first great-niece, Marleigh Jo, expected to arrive this July.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother: Andy Garrett in 2016, sister: Mary Crandall in 2019, cousins: Tracey Clark, Kenny Garrett and Terry Garrett; uncles: Bobby Garrett, Keith Garrett, Junior Richards and Charlie Papenhaus.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 11, 2025 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Burial will follow in Mt. Summit Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12 noon until the time of the service on Tuesday.
