Andrea H. Taylor, 70, formerly of New Castle, passed away unexpectedly Monday, October 8, 2012 in Mountain View, CA. She was born August 1, 1942 in Winona, MN the daughter of Gorman and Helen (Pravda) Winston.
Andrea received her Bachelors Degree from Indiana University and her Masters Degree Ball Sate University, both in musical performance. She taught music at New Castle Community Schools, Ball State University and Anderson University. She was a professional violinist and also taught private violin in her home. Andrea was a member of First Presbyterian Church, music director at First Friends Church in New Castle and a member of PEO. She also sponsored MADD (Mother’s Against Drunk Driving) and JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation). She enjoyed reading, knitting, watching tennis, movies and being a professional grandmother.
She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters: Jennifer Taylor of San Jose, CA and Barbara (husband, Jose) Moret of Howell, NJ; step-daughter: Alicia (husband, Howard) Gurn of Colleyville, TX; 4 grandchildren: Chloë, Sophia and Amelia Moret and Cameron Stark.; a brother: John Winston (wife, Anet Chavez-Winston) of Denver, CO; two nieces.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: J. Alton Taylor on January 17, 2005.
Services will be at 11:00 AM Saturday, October 13, 2012 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery West Lawn Addition.
