Anita Louise McIntosh

Anita Louise McIntosh, a devoted Christian and beloved member of the Spiceland community, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2025 at the age of 75. Anita was born on September 8, 1949 to the late Leslie and Dorothy (Elson) Bowen.

Anita’s faith was the cornerstone of her life, and she was an active member of Smyrna Baptist Church in Spiceland; daily devotions where a faithful part of Anitas day. Family meant everything to Anita. She cherished the time spent with her loved ones, always putting them first and creating memories that will be treasured forever. She will be remembered for her kind heart, loving nature, and the joy she brought to those around her.

Anita had a wide range of interests that kept her engaged and fulfilled. She loved the challenge of puzzles and brain teasers, always seeking new ways to keep her mind sharp. Anita also loved her dog, Emma, who brought her much comfort and companionship over the years.

Anita was very fond of basketball and enjoyed watching Northwestern University, hoping to catch a view of her grandson, Bryant, and the Golden State Warriors; she especially liked Steph Curry. She also had a soft spot for the timeless charm of Winnie the Pooh. When she wasn’t doing puzzles, Anita loved to unwind by playing computer games and watching her favorite TV shows, including “As the World Turns” and “The Young and the Restless”.

Anita is survived by her two sons, Scott (Shelly) McIntosh of New Castle and Eric McIntosh (Karen Stephenson) of Gulf Shores, AL; five grandchildren, Bryant (Vanessa) McIntosh of Evanston, IL, Madison (T.J.) Davis of Hagerstown, Taylor (Kaleb) Harrison of Losantville, Chase McIntosh (Micaela Gillam) of Pendleton, and Jarrett McIntosh of New Castle; four great grandchildren, Oakley Harrison, Wrenley Harrison, Tatum Harrison, and Knox Harrison; a special young lady who she loved like a granddaughter, Hannah Miller; her sister, Dianna Marshall (Steve Kennedy) of Springhill, TN; and her cousin, Deb Elson of Greenfield.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jackie R. McIntosh; brothers, Steve, Gary, and Randy Bowen; and her infant sister, Vickie Bowen.

Services will be at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 15, 2025 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle, with Pastor Joey Marshall officiating. Burial will follow at Circle Grove Cemetery in Spiceland. Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2025 from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Memorial contributions maybe given to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society with envelopes available at the funeral home.
