Anna Hazel (Smith) “Grannie” Cochran, 92, of New Castle, passed away Saturday, May 7, 2016 at her residence. She was born August 12, 1923, in Garrett County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Jasper and Beatrice (Adams) Smith.
Anna had been employed at several department stores in New Castle. She then worked at Heritage House and retired from Henry Co. Memorial Hospital in 1996 after 26 years of service. Anna attended Open Arms Church in New Castle. She loved John Wayne movies, playing cards, puzzles and spending time with her family, her two cats and her dog.
Survivors include a son; Jan (Terry) Cochran of New Castle; two daughters: Karen Cochran (Jerome Massengale) and Carolyn Adams, both of New Castle; Grandchildren; Jasper Adams, Jessica, Samantha, Sabrena and Sierra Cochran; one Great-Grandson: Mason Adams.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Virgil Smith.
Services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at Open Arms Church with Pastor Paul Davis officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the services at the church. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle.
