Annabelle (Mattix) Powers, 79, of Charlottesville passed away Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at her residence after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born July 19, 1929 in Carthage the daughter of the late Ora and Cora (Six) Mattix.
Annabelle was employed as a computer programmer. She enjoyed reading, bowling, and deciphering crossword puzzles. She will be remembered as a generous and devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend. She was a member of Park Chapel Church in Greenfield. She was very close to her family and grandchildren with whom she loved spending time.
Annabelle is survived by her son: Steven Powers; two granddaughters: Jennifer (husband: Jeff) Boyd; Christy Powers; one great granddaughter: Madelyn Boyd; sister: Kathleen Bever; a brother: John Mattix; sister-in-laws: Mary Powers and Marybelle Mattix; several nieces, nephews, cousins.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband: Earl E. “Doc†Powers; a brother: Lawrence Mattix; a sister: Helen “Juanita†Boring.
Services will be at 10:30 AM Friday, July 10 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel with Pastor Dave Woods officiating. Burial will follow at Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown.
