Anne Monyhan Chambers

Anne Monyhan Chambers, 88, of New Castle, passed away Monday, May 26.

She was born Feb. 5, 1926, in Paoli, Ind., to Blish and Elizabeth Davidson Monyhan, and married Walter S. Chambers Jr., of New Castle, in 1948. He died in 2000.
The Chambers family owned The Courier-Times for decades, from its founding until its sale in 1985.
Survivors include daughters Rebecca Chambers (Amy); Missy Topp; Catherine Kennedy (Jay); and son, Walter S. Chambers III (Jim); grandchildren, Aaron Topp (Stefanie); Chris Topp.; Annie Topp Velazquez (Luis) Kristen Kennedy; Patrick Kennedy; and great-grandchildren Amelie Topp, Henry Walter Topp, and Isabella Velasquez; brother-in-law Bill Bailey of New Castle; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday, May 30, at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service, New Castle. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, May 31, at the First Presbyterian Church in New Castle. Burial to follow at South Mound Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Henry County YMCA-New Castle, the Baker Pool Aquatic Center in New Castle or local charity of the donor’s choice.
