Antha Appleby Lutterman, 85, of New Castle passed away Thursday, May 10, 2012 in Glen Oaks Health Campus. She was born July 17, 1926 in Wayne County, KY, a daughter of the late Benjamin and Elizabeth (Koger) Steele.
Antha retired from Ball State University, where she worked in the food service and custodial departments. She was a longtime member of the Oakville Brethren Church and had also attended the First Assembly of God in New Castle. A member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Middletown Chapter, she enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and reading.
She leaves to cherish her memory, three children, Linda K. (husband, Virgil) Jones of Springport, Michael L. (wife, Carol) Appleby of Muncie, and Carolyn Antha Mills of New Castle; two grandchildren, Dean (wife, Kathy) Jones of Springport, and James Mills of Indianapolis; three great grandchildren, Brock Smith of New Castle, Keegan Jones of Springport, and Brandon Mills of Kendallville; a sister, Helen Gasaway of Henderson, TX; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, James Chalmon Appleby; her second husband, Herman Lutterman; three sisters, Velva Williams, Elsie Dobbs, and Zelpha Anton; an infant son, Larry Appleby.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service (State Road 3 South) in New Castle with her great nephew, Reverend Chris Sidwell officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Christian Cemetery in Springport. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Monday, May 14, 2012 at the funeral home.
