B. Lyle Wilson

December 24, 1925 — May 5, 2011

B. Lyle Wilson, age 85, of Sulphur Springs, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, May 5, 2011 following an extended illness. He was born December 24, 1925 in Sulphur Springs, a son of the late Carl and Elpha (Hinshaw) Wilson.

A 1943 graduate of Sulphur Springs High School, Lyle farmed for over 20 years and also retired from Westinghouse in Muncie after 25 years of service. Lyle and his wife Maxine wintered in Florida for 17 years, where they were active in the church there and sang in the choir.

Lyle was an active member of the Sulphur Springs Christian Church where he had served as trustee, was a past elder, and Sunday School teacher. He enjoyed playing golf, woodworking, and thoroughly enjoyed spending time with family and friends. A past member of the Knights of Pythias, he had served as Grand Chancellor and in other offices. Lyle’s family would like to extend a special thanks to Southern Care Hospice.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Maxine, whom he married May 31, 1946; five children, Kerry Wilson (fiancé, Dana Bryant) of Jeffersonville, Teresa (husband, Jim) Hornaday of Middletown, Vanessa (husband, Jeff) Wilson of Middletown, Jack (wife, Chris) Wilson of Pendleton, and Tammy (husband, Rick) Harter of Middletown; ten grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; three sisters, Lois Shockley (special friend, Viot) of New Castle, Marjorie Mason of Pendleton, and Kathryn Cashdollar of New Castle; one brother, Wilfred (wife, Mildred) Wilson of Dallas, TX, a sister-in-law, Delores Wilson of Sulphur Springs; several nieces and nephews; special friends, David and Marsha Gratner of Sulphur Springs.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Denver H. Wilson; brothers-in-law, Bill Shockley, Tom Cashdollar, and Don Mason; a granddaughter, Kimberly Ann Wilson; an aunt Josephine Wilson and stepmother, Eva Wilson.

Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 9, 2011 at Sulphur Springs Christian Church with Pastor C.J. Buskirk officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Summit Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Sunday, May 8, 2011 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Memorial contributions may be given to the Sulphur Springs Christian Church Building Fund with envelopes available at the funeral home. Online condolences may be expressed at www.hinsey-brown.com .
