Barbara Ann Hamilton, 95, a resident of New Castle passed away Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at Stonebrooke Rehab Center in New Castle. She was born November 19, 1929 in New Castle to the late Harry McKinley and Philena Fay (Rice) Turpin.
Barbara was an active member of the South Side Church of the Nazarene where she served as a greeter for many years. She was a former member of the Rural Wives Home-Ec Club and had also upholstered furniture. Barbara’s hobbies included square dancing, sewing, quilting, needle point, tatting and cooking. She also enjoyed reading, helping others and spending time with her family, especially playing cards and board games.
Survivors include her children: Dennis (Dianne) Hamilton, Karen (Nick) Erlach and Tim (Karen) Hamilton, all of New Castle; grandchildren: Chris Chopyak, Greg (Tara) Chopyak, Derrick (Amber) Hamilton, Deven (Carolyn) Hamilton, Danielle Hamilton, Josh Hamilton, Aimee (Kendall) Ervine, Jennifer (Chris) Ungvarsky and Nicholas Erlach; twenty-four great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Marcus Earl Hamilton on August 16, 1984 and two sisters: Harriett (Paul) Sherry and Gloria Platts.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, December 9, 2024 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Randy Tooley officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00 P.M. until time of the Celebration on Monday.
