Barbara J. Davis

Barbara J. Davis, 84, of New Castle went to be with Jesus on Saturday, May 25, 2019. She was born September 15, 1934 in Montpelier, Indiana to the late George M. and Marguerite I. (Retz) Pence.

Barbara retired from S.S. Kresge/ K-Mart in New Castle after 25 years of service. She was formerly employed at Brooks Canning Factory in Mt. Summit. A member of the New Testament Church of Christ in Hagerstown, she was active in the Friendship Circle. Barbara was formerly a member of the Nettle Creek Steppers Square Dancers. More than anything, she loved spending time with her family.

Survivors include a daughter, Patricia “Patty” C. (David) Yergin of New Castle three sons, Charles “Ed” (Betsy) Davis, Jr. of Hagerstown, George “Rusty” (Marta) Davis of New Castle and James “Jim” M. (Melinda) Davis of New Castle; grandchildren, Garon (Amber) Davis, Kirk (Bethany) Davis, Jonathan (Jenny) Yergin, Laura (Tyler) Oyer, Michael (Rachel) Yergin, Tabatha Davis (Companion: Josh Knoll), Ashton (Bobby) Belt and Tanner Davis; great grandchildren, Charlotte Rose Yergin, Betty “Bee” Amelia Blue Yergin, Magnolia Anne Yergin, Addilyn A. Belt, Davis S. Oyer, Nora J. Oyer, Solomon Ryder Davis, Holton Clark and Bailey Knoll; sisters: Joyce Thompson of New Castle, Sharon (Jack) Lundy of Hagerstown and Jackie Hibbard of New Castle; brother: Jerry (Pat) Pence of New Castle.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Davis; an infant sister: Gloria G. Pence and a brother-in-law: Ronnie Thompson.

Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Thursday, May 30, 2019 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Reverend Paul Gearhardt officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Summit Cemetery.
