Barbara J. Hill

Barbara J. Hill, 81 of New Castle, formerly of Knightstown, passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at her home. She was born February 15, 1931 in Knightstown the daughter of Everett and Ethel (Jones) Sheffield.

She retired from Western Electric in Indianapolis in 1983 after 30 years of service. Barbara was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and helped conduct church services at Heritage House Nursing Home. She had been affiliated with the Knightstown Friends Church. Her passion was visiting shut-ins at nursing homes.

She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters: Judy Hill of Prescott, AZ and Jean Ann Hill of New Castle; grandchildren: Mershon (Mike) Tidd of Greenfield, Johna (Ryan) Cooksey of Maxwell, Mike (Amanda) Hill of Shirley, Brandon (Erica) Hill of Prescott, AZ; eight great grandchildren: T. J. Callaway, Zioe Tidd, Madison & Ryan Cooksey, Brayden & Kendyl Hill, Ashlyn & Kayden Hill; also, her 2 beloved beagles, Miss Daisy & Miss Lilly.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded death by her husband: Marvin F. Hill in 1984; a son: John, who passed away the same day; two brothers: Lyle Sheffield and Jim (Barbara) Sheffield.

Services will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, March 10, 2012 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel with Pastor Paul Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Cove Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 PM Friday, March 9. Memorial contributions may be made to Henry County Community Foundation or the Christian Love Center with envelopes available at the funeral home.
