Barbara Hyden Jones, 77, formerly of New Castle, and St. Petersburg, FL, passed away on Saturday, October 30, 2010 at Golden Living Center of Muncie, after an extended illness. Barbara was born in Farmers, Kentucky on May 14, 1933 to Allen and Melva (Kissick) Hyden. Ms. Jones graduated from Breckenridge Training School in Morehead, Kentucky in 1951. She furthered her education by attending Morehead State University. She married Wendell Jones on August 3, 1957. She worked for many companies, including the Auditor"™s Office of Henry County, before retiring due to disability, in 1985. During her years in New Castle, she was a member of Sugar Grove United Methodist Church. Barbara was a committed mother, grandmother, and aunt whose greatest joy was being with her family. She was a loving sister who spent her entire life with her best friends; her two sisters, Jean and Ginger. She loved playing scrabble, reading, walking and being in the outdoors. Survivors include her six children, Jennifer (Todd) Lee of Muncie, Patty (David) Clark of Washington, Phil Jones (Tara Shukla) of Iowa, Julie Jones (Mark Preslar) of Tennessee, Mike Jones and David Jones of Kentucky; Grandchildren, Jessi and Michael Lee of Muncie, Rachel and Molly Clark, Anjali and Kiran Jones, Jude and Flora Ziliak, Emery Preslar, Kristy, Kelsey, Dakota, Carrie, Tommy, Elijah, Allen and Naomi Jones; Siblings, Jean (Emery) Sheffield of New Castle, Ginger (Winford) Norman of Anderson, and Dan (Anna) Hyden of Morehead, Kentucky; Several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and cousins. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Allen and Melva Hyden, her former husband Wiley Wendell Jones, and nephew Timothy V. Norman. Following cremation, a memorial service will held at 12:00 noon Saturday, November 6, 2010 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon Saturday at the funeral home. Interment will be in South Mound Cemetery, New Castle.
