Barbara Widner

Barbara J. Widner, 81, of New Castle, went to be with her husband and the Lord on Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield with her family at her side. She was born May 7, 1929 in Knightstown the daughter of John O. and Mary C. (Clark) Dawson.

Barbara retired from Ameriana Bank in New Castle in 1990 after several years of employment. She was a member of Foursquare Gospel Church and the Order of Eastern Star #492 of Shirley. She enjoyed spending time with her family especially grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed sports and was an avid Colts fan.

She is survived by two daughters: Marilyn (husband: Bill) Charlton of Indianapolis; Sharyl Widner of New Castle; a son: Jeff Widner of New Castle; five grandchildren: Shanna (husband: Jason) Duff of Greenfield; Stephani (husband: Kirk) Czap of Washington D.C.; Erin (wife: Dawn) Widner of Greenfield; Scott (wife: Sarah) Widner of New Castle; Brooke Widner of New Castle; four great grandchildren: Taylore, Lexi, and Shaely Duff of Greenfield; Bryce Widner of New Castle; a brother: Richard (wife: Sue) Dawson of Chesterfield; sister-in-law Margaret Selvidge; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Beryl Widner, Jr.; granddaughter: Melissa Widner; three great grandsons; and niece: Nancy Ann Dawson.

Services will be at 11:00 AM Monday, June 7, 2010 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Reverend Paul Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Cove Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-6 PM Sunday, June 6. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association with envelopes available at the funeral home.
