Barry L. Gurley, 60, of Knightstown, passed away unexpectedly Friday. He was born June 27, 1956 in New Castle, a son of the late Gerald and Ruby (Lee) Gurley.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, Barry was stationed in Germany for three years. He loved working in his garage with his son, building things for his sisters, and was always doing something for other people. Most of all, he loved spoiling his grandchildren. A member of the Knightstown American Legion, he was employed at T.S.Tech in New Castle.
He is survived by his wife, Leanna Gurley of Knightstown, whom he married August 20, 1983; a daughter, Amanda Gurley of New Castle; a son, Joe (Mikka)Gurley of Carthage; grandson, Grayson Joslin of New Castle; two granddaughters, Macie and Josie Gurley, both of Carthage. Also, three sisters, Geraldine Brown of Waldron, Etheleen (Pete) Swango of Shelbyville, and Carolyn Austin of Shelbyville; a brother, Richard (Therese) Gurley of Cookeville, TN; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Tambra Gurley.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m., Monday, December 19, 2016 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service, Knightstown Chapel. Funeral Service will be at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at the funeral home, with visitation an hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Walnut Ridge Cemetery near Carthage.
