Bertha McClendon Johnson, 94, of Charlottesville, went home September 10, 2009 after a long happy life with family, friends and loved ones. She was born January 14, 1915 in Vinnie, KY the daughter of Lloyd and Leva (Mills) McClendon.
Bertha loved quilting, cooking and spending time with her church family. She especially enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by : Rachel Johnson of Greenfield, Lewis (wife: Loretta) Johnson of Charlottesville, Randy (wife: Susie) Johnson of Greenfield, Jimmie (wife: Tracey) Johnson of Charlottesville, Doris (husband: Jerry) Masters of Wilkinson, Edna (husband: Charles) Ryan of Greenfield, Sue (husband: Alson) Johnson of Greenfield and daughter in-law: Frieda Johnson of Charlottesville; sister: Hazel Burton of KY; brother: Hollis (wife: Geneva) McClendon of Anderson; twenty-five grandchildren; thirty-six great grandchildren; and nine great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband: Ruel E. Johnson, sons: Bobby, Lowell and Bub Johnson; daughters: Irene Johnson and Betty Baugus; sisters: Anna Foster and Clara Johnson; brothers: Arnold and Arvil McClendon.
Services will be at 2:00 PM Monday, September 14, 2009 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel with Pastors Early Hall and Randy Gross officiating.
