Betty Hufford Ezell, age 74, of Lewisville, passed away Saturday, September 27, 2008 at Ball Memorial Hospital after a long battle with alzheimers disease. She was born August 31, 1934 in New Castle, Indiana to the late Howard and Hilda Shafer.
She was a wonderful mother and grandmother who will be sadly missed by her three children and was much loved and will be missed by her grandchildren. After raising her three children in New Castle, she lived in both Kentucky and Ohio where she was employed by May Company. Locally she was employed by Arlan’s Department Store, Hills and retired from Ames.
Survivors include her children: Sherri (husband: Bill) Vandergriff of Chattanooga, TN, Jennifer (husband: Dale) Fultz of Lewisville and Larry (wife: Susie) Hufford of New Castle; five grandchildren: Tracy Dumford of Chattanooga, TN, Stephanie Buscemi of Ringgold, GA, Chad (wife: Stacey) Whitehead of New Castle, Holly (husband: Kevin) Hudson of New Castle and Chris (wife: Melanie) Hufford of New Castle; eight great grandchildren; a brother: Dick Shafer of New Castle; a sister: Sue (husband: Harlan) Dalton of New Castle; three step children: Donna David, Tommy Davis and Bill Ezell, Jr.; six step grandchildren; several aunts, uncles and cousins; she is also survived by a special friend and caregiver: Kay Jones.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 30, 2008 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Reverend Chris Renick officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Monday, September 29, 2008 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association with envelopes available at the funeral home.
