Betty R. Fleming, 87, a resident of New Castle passed away Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at Glen Oaks Health Campus. She was born December 5, 1925 in Henry County to the late Glen and Bernetha (Houser) Holcomb.
Betty retired from Edwards Jewelers after 25 years of service. She was a member of the Business and Professional Women's Association (BPWA) and the Buck Creek Church of the Brethren. She loved Purdue Basketball, reading, soap operas and socializing with her many friends.
Survivors include a daughter, Karen (Mick) Murray of Mooreland; son, Dan (Jackie) Fleming of Valparaiso, IN; grandchildren, Kathy Hardwick (Clay Watkins), Shane (Rebecca) Murray, Carol (Gary) Batson, Eric (Susan) Fleming, Tim Fleming, Ronnie, Jr. (Terri Ann) Fleming, Michael (Jennifer) Olis and Chris Olis; great grandchildren, Katherine Murray, Cheyenne (Seth) Simpkins, Reece Hale, Hannah Fleming, Alana, Tyler, Evan and Dylan Fleming; two special sisters-in-law, Linda Holcomb and Phyllis Holcomb; siblings, Helen Gossage, Mary Lou (Gene) Cartwright, Eldon Holcomb, Norma Crandall, Dorothy Pope and Larry (Linda) Holcomb; two nephews: Bruce Pope and Jeff Crandall.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Robert R. Fleming; a son: Ronald Fleming, Jr., two grandchildren: Jamie Fleming and Tom Hale, two brothers: Richard and Robert "Bud" Holcomb.
Private services were held Monday, October 7, 2013 at Mooreland Cemetery.
