Betty June Houser

Betty June Houser, 100, of New Castle, passed away Thursday, June 6, 2024 at The Waters of Middletown. She was born May 30, 1924 in Losantville, IN to the late Joseph H. and Georgia D. (Johnson) Koons.

Betty attended New Lisbon School and graduated from Mooreland High School. She married the love of her life, Donald Houser, on March 23, 1943. Through the years, she had worked at Perfect Circle, J & E Shoes in New Castle, Modernfold, Carson Chemicals and was an Avon Representative. Betty was an exceptional seamstress. She enjoyed canning and preserving her home-grown fruits and vegetables. She loved caring for others and was always willing to lend a helping hand, whether that be with her grandchildren or friends, she was always available. Betty was proud to still be mowing her own 4-acre yard in to her 90’s with her own zero turn lawn mower.

She is survived by her children, Gary Houser, Alan Houser (Shirley Coomer), Jill Roberts; grandchildren, Gary Don (Jane) Houser Jr., Tami Hagler, Jeff (Dana) Houser, Kimberly Frost, Bart (Wendy) Butterfield, Chad (Ashley) McGathey and Jacob (Alyssa) McGathey; 14 great grandchildren; several great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Donald L. Houser; daughter, Jackie McGathey; grandson, Kris Houser; brothers, Richard and Joseph Ronald Koons.

Services will be at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Tobby Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Mooreland Cemetery.
