Betty Jean Lewellen

Betty Jean Lewellen, 93, of New Castle passed away Sunday, June 16, 2024 at The Willows of New Castle. She was born July 2, 1930 in New Castle to the late Alford D. and Faye Sylvia (Roane) Lewellen.

Betty was a 1948 graduate of New Castle High School and a longtime active member of the South Memorial Drive Church of God. She was proud to have lived independently on her own most of her life. In her spare time, she enjoyed crocheting, knitting and watching sports. In her earlier years, Betty loved vacationing in Florida with her parents and was employed at the News Republican.

She is survived by close friends and care givers, David and Susan Denison, Amy Lovan, Emily Farris and special friend, Stuart Farris. A special thank you to Mike Betten for his love and support shown to Betty throughout the years.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

Her caregivers would like to offer a special thanks to The Willows of New Castle and to Bill and Margie Clampitt.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 21, 2024 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home on Friday. A private burial will follow in North Vernon Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the South Memorial Drive Church of God.
