Betty McClurg

Betty McClurg, 86, of Knightstown, passed away on Saturday, May 3, 2014. She was born September 23, 1927, in Evansville, Indiana. She was the daughter of the late Henry Troy and Mary Jane Kinder.

Betty was a 1945 graduate of Carthage High School and married Ralph McClurg on March 30, 1947. They resided in Carthage for 38 years until his passing in 1985. She was a member of the Carthage Friends Church where she served as organist for many years. Betty retired from Knightstown National Bank where she was a teller. She was an active quilter, and enjoyed painting and gardening. She made anyone and everyone feel welcome in her home.

She is survived by her two sons, Steve McClurg of Monticello, Indiana, and Mike McClurg of Knightstown, Indiana; four grandchildren: Amanda, Andrea, Zach and Justin along with six great-grandchildren and her sister Sherry Sue White (Harry), of Knightstown. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Georgia Marie Kinder and June Alexander.

Services will be at 2:30 PM Friday, May 9, 2014 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel with Pastor Roger Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Carthage.
