Betty Ann Phillips, 89, of New Castle, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Wednesday, June 10, 2015. Betty was born February 2, 1926 the daughter of Charles Henry and Ethel (Gilaspy) Phillips.
She was born in Mooresville and graduated from Anderson High School in 1944, and later resided in Sun City, Arizona until January 2013 when she relocated to New Castle. Betty was a bright light with a sense of humor that enabled her to live life to its fullest until her latest illness. She began her career with TWA Airlines, Tucson, Arizona as a stewardess on international flights. Some of her greatest enjoyments in life came from her travels, seeing the world, by visiting Paris, London, Rome, Berlin, Venice and Hong Kong. She often regaled her visitors with stories from those times and the places she had visited. After leaving TWA, Betty became an Executive Secretary with Wells Fargo Bank and retired from there in 1988. Betty loved collecting art from various artist, was a ballroom dancer and wedding planner. She loved her dog Bonnie Laddie. Betty enjoyed her cats and dogs, and for many years served as a foster care person for the animal society in Sun City. She will be missed by family and friends, especially her friends, Susan Denison and Dottie Boulanger.
A Memorial Service will be held in Betty’s honor at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Robert Shaeffer officiating. Betty has requested any memorial contributions to be used for the care of animals made to, Best Friends Animal Society, 5001 Angel Canyon Road, Kanab, UT 84741-5000 or Henry County Animal Shelter, 11 Midway Drive, New Castle, IN 47362 with envelopes available at the funeral home.
