Betty Ridout, age 84 of Mt. Summit, Indiana, passed away Friday, August 19, 2011 at Sugar Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born June 15, 1927 in Rushville, Indiana to the late Harry and Lena (Huegle) Tumilty, Sr.
She retired from Dennis Equipment in New Castle after many years of service, where she served as bookkeeper. She was a member of Mt. Summit Christian Church. Betty enjoyed crafting and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed being a caregiver for her siblings.
Survivors include three daughters, Jackie Baker of Pendleton, IN Pam (husband, Rick) Thomas of Columbus, IN and Connie (husband, Jim) Rinearson of Boonville, IN; four grandchildren, Brent (wife, Susan) Gray of Melbourne, FL, Jason (wife, Nicole) Thomas of Wentzville, MO, Linzey (husband, Mike) Seiber of Amelia, OH and Amanda Morgan of Muncie, IN; five great grandchildren, Aaron Gray, Colton Thomas, Charlotte Thomas, Kalleigh Seiber and Zane Seiber; three sisters, Pat Sipes of Knightstown, IN Norma Jones of Anderson, IN and Vicki Herrmann of Glenwood, IN; three brothers, Bill Tumilty (companion, Marty) of Greenfield, IN Harry (wife, Lila) Tumilty, Jr. of Greenfield, IN and Jerry (wife, Jenny) Tumilty of Greenfield, IN; a sister-in-law, Doris Jean Wilson of Rushville, IN; a longtime friend, Aunda Borem of Rushville, IN and Bev Swinford, of Muncie, IN whom she loved as a daughter; several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roydan Ridout; a sister, Joey Dickson and her husband Francis “Pinkie” Dickson.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, August 22, 2011 at Mt. Summit Christian Church with Reverend Mark O’Brien officiating. Burial will follow in Center Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-5 p.m. Sunday, August 21, 2011 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Memorial contributions may be given the Mt. Summit Christian Church, P.O. Box 310, Mt.
