Betty Jo Watson

Betty Jo Watson, 57, of New Castle, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, June 13, 2024 at I.U. Ball Memorial Hospital. She was born March 7, 1967, in Orange, CA, a daughter of James and Rita (Guffey) Evans.

A loving mom and grandma, Betty adored her grandchildren. She enjoyed riding motorcycles, baking, cooking, and crafting. She also liked dirt biking, fishing, and outdoor sports in general. Sometimes with a ornery streak, she enjoyed having a good time with family and friends.

She was a server at Maxwell House and Applebees in New Castle for many years. More recently she was a behavioral therapist with Occazio and Indiana Mentor.

She leaves to cherish her memory, three sons, Kris (Karla) McWilliams of Aberdeen, SD, John Lawrence of Anderson, and Quintin (Misty) Watson of Hagerstown; two step sons, Eric (Kristi) Watson of New Castle and Rodney (Elsie) Watson of Mooreland; grandchildren, Keigen and Kirsten McWIlliams, Blaine Cavanaugh, Beau and Hershel Watson, Morgan Watson, Peyton Collins, and Logan and Zoey Watson; her mother, Rita (Terry) Stokes of New Castle; a sister, Bobbie Davis of New Castle; four brothers, James Evans, Thomas Evans, Ralph Evans, and Mike Evans; and many other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Jim Evans; a sister, Bonnie Hazan; maternal grandparents, Ronald and Phyllis Guffey; a nephew, Sonny Criswell; an uncle, Ralph Guffey, mother-in-law, Darlene McWilliams; and a cousin, David Guffey.

Services will be at 3:30 p.m., Thursday, June 20, 2024 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service with Mark Herbkersman officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 1:30 -3:30 p.m., Thursday prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be given to the Betty Jo Watson Memorial Fund, c/o Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service.
