Betty Ilene White, 86, a former resident of New Castle, passed away Saturday, March 12, 2016 at Rawlins House in Pendleton following a brief illness. She was born December 21, 1929 in Spencer, IN, the daughter of the late Enoch and Fleeta (Smith) Noel.
A 1947 graduate of Spencer High School, she retired from Delco Remy in Anderson in 1986 after 32 years of service. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in New Castle where she served as greeter and on the funeral dinner committee. Betty enjoyed attending BSF (Bible Study Fellowship) for several years, loved to cook, bake, and spend time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She lived in Florida for 12 years after retirement and learned to love the sunny south. She also enjoyed working crossword puzzles.
She leaves to cherish her memory, two daughters, Janet (Dale) Starks of Pendleton, and Sondra (Dr. Jerry) Lamberson of Noblesville; two granddaughters, Courtney Jennings-Sood of Zionsville, and Dr. Megan (Ricky) Jones of Pendleton; a grandson, Ross Lamberson of Cincinnati; four great grandchildren, Annika and Nikhil Sood, and Sydney and Taylor Jones.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene White in 2004.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 19, 2016 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Reverend Jerry Ingalls officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery, West Lawn Addition. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Saturday. Memorial contributions may be given to Bible Study Fellowship, 19001 Huebner Road, San Antonio, TX, 78258, with envelopes also available at the funeral home.
