Bill O'Dear Sr.

Bill Edmond O’Dear, Sr., age 70, of New Castle, passed away Friday, December 4, 2009 at Richard Roudebush VA Medical Center in Indianapolis. He was born January 2, 1939.
He was an avid CB Radio enthusiast, enjoyed cake decorating and working with plastic canvas. He also loved working on cars. He had been employed for Capital Ironworks in Kansas City, KS where he helped build the Kansas City Royals stadium. He had also been employed with the Courier Times for over 29 years.
Survivors include two sons: Robert (wife: Robin) O’Dear and their children, Eva Shalyce and Robert Kirk O’Dear, Jr. of New Castle; Bill (wife: Sue) O’Dear, Jr. and their children, Hillary, Chelsea, and Bill E. O’Dear III “Ty†of New Castle; a brother: Lou (wife: Mary Ann) King of Topeka, KS; four nieces: Judy, Jackie, Jeanne and Joni; several great nieces and nephews; a sister-in-law: Opal McQueen of New Castle; a brother-in-law: Phillip (wife: Frances) Free of Fortville, IN. .
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Betty O’Dear on July 2, 2007, his parents, Paul F. O’Dear on October 3, 1990 and Ruth E. O’Dear on September 24, 2005.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at Grace Baptist Church in New Castle where Military Rites will be conducted by the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Reverend Denny Neal will officiate. Burial will follow in Green Hills Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 5-8 p. m. Tuesday, December 8, 2009 at Grace Baptist Church in New Castle. Services are entrusted to Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Memorial contributions may be given to the Bill E. O’Dear Memorial Fund with envelopes available at the church.
