Bill A. Vickery, 66, of New Castle went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 21, 2014 at Henry County Hospital following an extended illness. He was born May 23, 1948 in Wayne County, Kentucky, a son of the late Knox and Cathern (Roll) Vickery.
He worked at Diamond Container (Box Factory) in New Castle and then Ingersoll Steel in New Castle for many years. He then owned and operated “The Strip Shop” in New Castle with his son David for several years. Bill enjoyed classic car restoration, gardening, fishing, hunting and woodworking. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He had attended the Westview Church of the Nazarene in New Castle.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Nancy Vickery of New Castle; a daughter, Lesa (Dewayne) Stewart of Cumming, GA, a son, David (Angie) Vickery of New Castle; grandchildren, Sarah (James) Huesman, of New Castle, Billy (Vivian) Stewart of Brandon, MS, Corina (Matthew) McGrady of Athens, GA, Ben Vickery of New Castle, Andy Vickery of New Castle, and Adam Stewart of Cumming, GA; great grandchildren, Lainie, Robbie, Jackson and Lilly Huesman; two sisters, Nellie Rocko of MN and Patsy (Rodney) Schultz of New Castle, a brother, James Vickery of Indianapolis, several nieces & nephews, and best friend, Robert Stewart of Cumming, GA.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a sister, Cathern Marie Vickery and two brothers, George Vickery and Larry Vickery.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, December 29, 2014 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Paul Lawson officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery, West Lawn Addition. Friends may call from 2-6 p.m. Sunday. Condolences and memories of Bill may be shared a
