Billy Gene Carter

Billy G. Carter, age 82, passed away Thursday, June 28, 2012 at his residence. He was born July 30, 1929 in New Castle, Indiana to the late William Howard and Helen Marie (Stonerock) Carter.

He retired from the State of Indiana Board of Tax Commissioners and was a life member of the Elks Lodge in New Castle. He enjoyed gardening, playing cards, and also loved entertaining.

Survivors include two daughters, Conni Brodie (Scott) of Phoenix, AZ and Vicki Carter (Bruce Nield) of Indianapolis; two sisters, Barbara Harding of Greenfield and Beatrice Ward (Michael) of New Castle; four nieces and nephews, Joni Miller (Mitchell) of Markleville, Jeff Roberts (Judy) of Wichita, KS, Eric Longworth of Maricopa, AZ and Julie Johnson of New Castle.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Carter, whom he married July 30, 1948.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Richard Ratcliff officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery-West Lawn Addition. Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. Monday, July 2, 2012 at the funeral home, where there will be an Elks Memorial Service held at 7:00 PM.
