Billy Joe Wheeler went to his eternal home Friday, August 2, 2019. He was born in Lee County, Virginia, to William Randall and Jeanette Harber Wheeler.
After graduating from high school in Shelbyville, Indiana, Billy served his country in the United States Air Force retiring after 20 years of service.
Billy was an avid reader and book collector. His joy of writing included creating an unpublished novel and writing freelance articles for several Nashville, Tennessee publications. He enjoyed traveling, staying in bed & breakfasts, and visiting historical places.
His warm, delightful spirit provided him with many friends. A devoted husband, he loved family and spending time with them.
He passed away peacefully at his home in Gallatin, Tennessee with his wife and friends by his side. He is survived by wife of 34 years, Berniece Logan Wheeler, a sister, Barbara Thompson of Mesa, Arizona and a brother, Danny Raye Wheeler of Greenfield, Indiana.
A brother, Jack Randall Wheeler pre-deceased him.
Services will be at 11:00am Tuesday, August 6, 2019 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in Knightstown with the Rev. David Oakes officiating. Burial will follow in Arlington East Hill Cemetery in Arlington, IN with military rites conducted by the Knightstown American Legion and the U.S. Air Force.
