Blanch A. Bailey

Blanch A. Bailey, age 95, of New Castle, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 01, 2011 while at Glen Oaks Health Campus. She was born May 29, 1915 in Baywood, VA, a daughter of the late Early and Robena (Murray) Phipps.

A member of the First Church of the Nazarene in New Castle for many years, Blanch retired from Firestone in New Castle after several years of service. She loved caring for her dog, Sophie, and found great pleasure in cooking for her many family members.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her son, Jesse (wife, Maxine) Bailey of New Castle; two granddaughters, Christie (husband, Ed) Ponder of Sevierville, TN, and Kim Moore of Franklin, NC; a grandson, Jeffrey (wife, Lisa) Bailey of Orlando, FL; six great grandchildren, Daniel, Seth, Tanner, Andrea, Ashton, and Nicole; several nieces and nephews, including, Vickie and Pete Reece, Jim and Pat Buck, Norma and Larry Meyer, Joyce and Charlie Myers, Janice Estelle, Max and Linda Garner, Judy and Jim Jolley, Greg Phipps, and Mike and Pat Gribbons.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James D. Bailey in 1991; three sisters, Oma Garner, Ima Buck, Emma Gribbons; a brother, E.J. Phipps, and a nephew, Gerald (wife, Lela) Gribbons.

Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 4, 2011 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service with Rex Madison officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery. Friends may call from 12-2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to the First Church of the Nazarene or the Henry County Humane Society with envelopes available at the funeral home.
