Bobby E. Guffey

Bobby E. Guffey, 78, of New Castle passed away on Friday, October 13, 2023 at his home. He was born April 7, 1945 in Powersburg, Kentucky to the late Dalton and Maude (Neal) Guffey.

A 1964 graduate of New Castle Chrysler High School, Bobby retired from General Motors in 1999 after 35 years of service at Delco Remy Plant #20 in Anderson. He was a member of UAW Local 663 and attended Mt. Zion Wesleyan Church in New Castle. Bobby loved spending time at Dale Hollow Lake and visiting friends from his old home place in Wayne County, Kentucky. He especially enjoyed seeing the natural springs across from where he grew up along with horseback riding.

Those left to cherish Bobby’s memory include his wife of 59 years: Celia (Lovelace) Guffey, whom he married June 12, 1964; three children: Robert A. Guffey of New Castle, Jeffrey R. Guffey of Huntington and Susan A. Guffey of New Castle; three grandchildren: Ashlyn S Guffey, Katelyn A. Bertram and Levi C. Guffey; two sisters: Margie Smith of New Castle and Ina Jean (Russell) Phillips of Cadiz; a brother: Herlan “Junior” (Rosie) Guffey of Wayne County, KY; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters.

A Celebration of Bobby's Life will be held at 1:30 P.M. Thursday, October 19, 2023 at Mt. Zion Wesleyan Church with Pastor Steve Arnett officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 P.M. Wednesday, October 18 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Memorial contributions may be given to the Mt. Zion Wesleyan Church, 1583 N.
