Bobby E. Richmond, 78, of Carthage, passed away Monday, March 7, 2016 at Rush Memorial Hospital. He was born February 15, 1938 in Vanceburg-Old Trace, Kentucky a son of Delbert and Josie (Carpenter) Richmond.
Bobby worked at Richardson Lumber Co. for 35 years and then at Troutman Hardwoods in Carthage. He loved bluegrass music and spending time with his grandkids and great grandkids. He enjoyed westerns, squirrel hunting, Bean Blossom, and riding around town in his 1985 Ford Crown Victoria. Bobby also loved sweet food and he called them his “sweeties”.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mertie Richmond; six children, James Richmond of Carthage, Rayburn Richmond of Carthage, Marketta (Ron) Richmond-Humes of Spiceland, Brenda Richmond of Woodville, OH, Shelle Richmond of Carthage, Joe (Jeri) Richmond of Carthage; five grandchildren, Brittney Schroeder, Joni Lawson, Anna Richmond, Robert Richmond and Bobby Richmond; three great grandchildren, Khloe Schroeder, Ellie Lawson and Mallorie Graham; two brothers, Hobert Richmond, Dewey Richmond; a sister, Sally Richmond-Butler; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Maggie Butler and Dorothy Spence; brothers, Herbert, Fred, Walter and Carl Lee Richmond.
Services will be at 2:00 PM Friday, March 11, 2016 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel with Reverend Gene Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in Carthage Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 PM Thursday. Condolences and memories of Bobby may be shared at
