Boyd Franklin Parmley, 77, of Kennard, passed away Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at his residence. He was born June 30, 1936 in Monticello, Kentucky the son of Frank Henderson and Lilly (Florence) Parmley.
Boyd served in the U.S. Army from 1959-1965 as a Master Tank Gunner. He retired from Roadway Trucking Company after 26 years of service. He was an avid University of Kentucky basketball fan and was a member of the Teamsters Union #135. He enjoyed fishing, watching sport car racing and attending car shows.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years: Rebecca “Sue” Parmley of Kennard; two sons: Garvin Lee (Anna) Parmley of Seymour, Jason Lee (Christina) Parmley of Daleville; grandchildren: Heather (Josh) Quillen, Josh (Rachael) Parmley, Austin Hamm, Samantha Parmley, Kayla Hollingsworth, Jaima Hollingsworth, Amber Slaven, Jordan Parmley, and Kayleigh Smith; four great grandchildren; siblings, Leroy Stephenson, Loretta Guerrero, Marie McGuire; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings: Katherine Conn, and William “Bill” Parmley.
Services will be at 3:00 PM Friday, May 23, 2014 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Bob Lines officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion.
