Brenda M. Friend

Brenda M. Friend, 78, of Indianapolis, passed from this life on January 28, 2022 surrounded by her children. She was born September 7, 1943 in Stirrat, WV, a daughter of Carl and Helen (Abarday) Calloway.

Brenda graduated high school in Logan, WV and attended the Pentecostal Bible Institute in Tupelo, MS. She was a professional nanny for many years, which she thoroughly enjoyed, and was a faithful member of Christian Tabernacle Church in Indianapolis for over 58 years. She was a joyous and charismatic friend who responded to the needs of others. She will be remembered for her awesome legacy of love.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Rene (Doug) Eisele of Cincinnati, Candace (Jerry) Shelton of Scottsdale, AZ, Henry Friend II of Oakland, CA, and Fonda (Rev. Jeff) Emmitt of New Castle, IN; grandchildren, Stephanie (Anthony) Tallon of Florence, KY, and Melanie and Karissa Emmitt, both of New Castle; great grandchildren, Rylee and Emmitt Tallon; a brother, David (Chris) Calloway of Morgantown, IN; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Logan Brinson; sisters, Betty Lewis and Judy Kay Calloway; brothers, Carl, Phillip, Michael, Kelly, and Jerry Calloway .

Services will be at 5:00 p.m., Monday, January 31, 2022 at Christian Tabernacle Church, 802 S. Franklin Rd, Indianapolis with Reverends Kent Jordan and Jeff Emmitt officiating. Visitation will be from 3-5 p.m., Monday at the church. It is requested that masks be worn. Private burial services will take place at Gravel Lawn Cemetery in Fortville on Tuesday.
