Brenda K. Magee, 59, of Carthage, passed away unexpectedly Monday, June 13, 2011 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born August 26, 1951 in New Castle a daughter of Howard L. and Carol (Parks) Chew.
Brenda was a 1969 graduate of Knightstown High School and worked at Western Electric for 13 years. She and her husband owned and operated Gus’s Cafe in Carthage for the past 27 ½ years. Cooking and serving people were her passion.
She is survived by her husband of 39 years: Jim Magee of Carthage; one son: Bradley (Stacey) of Carthage; three grandchildren: Kelton, Jarrett and Macey all of Carthage; one sister: Karen Owens of Leesburg; a niece: Tiffany Owens; two nephews: Matthew and Jonathan Owens; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in law.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Services will be at 11:00 AM Friday, June 17, 2011 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel with Pastor Randy Gross officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Cove Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 PM Thursday, June 16 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent Heart Center 2001 W. 86th Street Indianapolis, IN 46260.
