Brenda J. Thurston

Brenda J. Thurston, age 73, of New Castle, formerly of Wabash, Indiana went home to be with the Lord on April 17, 2012 at her home with her family by her side, after an extended illness. She was born May 17, 1938 in Clinton County, Kentucky to the late Otha and Erma Agee.

Brenda was a member of the South Side Nazarene Church in New Castle. She married Jimmie Thurston on October 28, 1955 in Greenfield, Indiana. She attended New Castle High School and had worked for Mark-Hon Credit Union and Ford Meter Box Credit Union. She enjoyed sewing, making many of her own dresses. She also enjoyed cooking, singing and especially traveling to Kentucky and the Smoky Mountains. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and loved her dog “Lady”. She was very outgoing never meeting a stranger.

Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Jimmie Thurston; a daughter, Rhonda Quakenbush of New Castle, IN; a son, Larry (wife, Amanda) Thurston of New Castle, IN; two grandchildren, Kayla Thurston of Butlerville, IN and Colton Lincoln of New Castle, IN; a sister, Wanda (husband, Mike) Byrd of New Castle, IN; a brother, Wayne Agee of New Castle, IN; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 20, 2012 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Reverends Michael Dees and David Perry officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery-West Lawn Addition. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, April 19, 2012 at the funeral home.
