Brian Lee Laurie, age 55, a 30-year resident of Muncie and most recently of New Castle, passed away on Tuesday, February 4, 2025. Born on October 9, 1969, in Muncie, Indiana, he was the son of Donald Lee and Brenda (Hayes) Laurie. 

Brian was a 1988 graduate of New Castle Chrysler High School and had been employed at the former Ross’s Supermarket in Muncie.

A gentle honest soul, Brian had a deep love for life’s simple joys. He enjoyed fishing, visiting flea markets, and spending time at family gatherings. A history enthusiast, he found joy in books, documentaries, and historical shows. He especially cherished walks with his mother and browsing for books at Ollie’s. An avid collector, Brian took pride in his Coca-Cola and political memorabilia. He also had a deep appreciation for animals and good food, with a special fondness for holiday buffets.

Brian is survived by his mother, Brenda Laurie of New Castle; brother, Tim Laurie of New Castle; niece, Cierra Laurie; great niece, Thea Daniels of New Castle.

Brian was preceded in death by his father, Donald Laurie in 2011 and friend, Murvel Williams.

Services will be held at 1:00pm Friday, February 7, 2025 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Visitation will be from 12:00pm until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be given to Meridian Services, 240 N. Tillotson Ave. Muncie, IN 47304. You may express condolences or share memories of Brian at www.hinsey-brown.com.
