Bruce W. Atkinson

Bruce W. Atkinson, 65, of New Castle, passed away Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at his home. He was born February 28, 1958 in Henry County to the late Leland and Mary (Stinson) Atkinson.

He graduated in 1976 from Walter P. Chrysler High School and attended Ball State University. Bruce was employed with Big Blue River Conservancy District. He then worked at Beam Longest Neff Consulting Engineers. Bruce retired as the GIS Administrator for Henry County in January, 2021. He enjoyed fishing, boating, camping. An avid musician, he played keyboard in the band "Taxi". Bruce also enjoyed attending Indianapolis Colts football games.

He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Kim Marie (Breining) Atkinson, whom he married July 4, 1997; a sister, Donna (Mike) McLaughlin of Muncie; a brother-in-law, Walter Breining of New Castle; several aunts, uncles and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Pam Atkinson.

Services will be held Monday, October 30, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Ryan Farmer officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. Monday, prior to the service. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery, West Lawn Addition.
