Bryan R. Sloan

Bryan R. Sloan, 46, of New Castle passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, February 3, 2017. He was born December 21, 1970 in New Castle, a son of Edwin and Rebecca (Heltzel) Sloan.

Bryan attended New Castle Schools and had worked at Brook’s Foods in Mt. Summit, Virbac Inc., Michael Bonne’s Copper Shop in Knightstown, and Pro Green in Mt. Summit, where he had been employed for the past several years. An avid guitarist, Bryan loved not only playing music, but buying, selling, and trading music equipment. He also enjoyed fishing, and loved all animals, especially his dog, Low Rider.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 22 years, Bobbie Sloan of New Castle, whom he married May 19, 1995; his parents, Edwin and Rebecca Sloan of New Castle; sister, Sherry (Larry) Storms of New Castle; brother, Doug (Amy) Sloan of New Castle; two step children, Josh (Tina) Penix and Lacy (Geoff) Penix, both of Muncie; nephews, Kyle (Jenny), Derek, and Jesse Sloan, and Josh Atkinson; a niece, Candace Atkinson; step niece, Kayleigh Storms and two step nephews, Josh and Justin Storms; one great niece and two great nephews; three step granddaughters and one step grandson; mother-in-law, Brenda (Dallas) Watkins of Muncie; father-in-law, Bobby Knight of Muncie; several aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, and a brother-in law, Darrell Atkinson.

Visitation will be from 1-3 p.m. Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Services will follow at 3 p.m. with Pastor Steve Arnett officiating. Burial will be in South Mound Cemetery-West Lawn Addition at a later date. Memorial contributions may be given to the Bryan R. Sloan Memorial Fund, c/o Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service, 3406 S.
