Cara Lynn (Alley) Smith, 33, of Indianapolis passed away unexpectedly Sunday, September 28, 2008 at St. Francis Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born February 16, 1975 in New Castle, the daughter of Donny and Sherry (Charlton) Alley.
A 1993 graduate of New Castle Chrysler High School, Cara also graduated with a bachelors degree in general studies from IUPUI and was pursuing a 2nd degree in Health Administration/Informatics. She enjoyed digital photography and scrap booking and previously attended Foursquare Gospel Church. She was a dedicated mother who loved spending time with her children and family activities.
In addition to her parents she is survived by her husband: Chris Smith of Indianapolis; two sons: Carson Matthew and Carter Michael Smith of Indianapolis; a sister: Heather (husband: Jake) (Alley) Selph of Papillion, NE; maternal grandmother: Eileen Charlton of NC; Chris’s parents: Tim and Carolyn Smith of Jackson, TN; Chris’s grandparents: Bill and Beverly Bertram of Muncie; sister-in-laws: Jessica (husband: Jonathan) Newton of Medon, TN; Jennifer (husband: Brian) Hopper of Jackson, TN; brother-in-law: Mark Wilson of Danville, KY; nephews: Bradley and Zachary Selph of Papillion, NE; Timothy Newton of Medon, TN; aunts: Lila (husband: Dale) DeHart, Theresa Alley, Rosalie (husband: Danny) Earnest, and Syvella Alley all of NC; Becky Ashbaugh of Muncie; uncles: Steven (wife: Sue) Charlton of Columbus, IN; Bill (wife: Marilyn) Charlton of Indianapolis; Ned (wife: Joann) Alley of NC; and several cousins.
Cara was preceded in death by maternal grandfather: Richard Charlton; paternal grandparents: Clarence and Catherine Alley; uncles: Joe and James Alley and Douglas E. Smith.
Services will be at 11:00 AM Friday, October 3, 2008 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service with Pastor Charles McDonald officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery West Lawn Addition. Friends may call from 4-8 PM Thursday, October 2, 2008.
