Carl Brausa

November 16, 1924 — March 5, 2009

Carl O. Brausa, age 84, of New Castle, went to be with the Lord while in the care of his loving family, Thursday, March 5, 2009. He was born November 16, 1924 in Bridgeport, Illinois to the late Charles and Estel (Moffitt) Brausa Purcell. He graduated from high school in Bridgeport, Illinois and attended a junior college in Kansas City, Kansas. He served in the United States Army, serving in WWII and was a Purple Heart recipient. He served in Europe and Africa. He retired from Pacific Intermmountain Express Trucking Company and had worked in Management at West Coast Airlines in Bellingham, Washington and was an amateur pilot. He was a 32nd degree Mason, belonged to the Walla Walla, Washington Masonic Temple, and was in the Scottish Rite. He loved riding motorcycles and traveling, including several trips toYellowstone National Park. He enjoyed his family, loved animals, enjoyed having company and was also known for his kindness.

Survivors include his wife: Nancy Brausa of New Castle; four children: Greg Brausa of Orion, MI, Shanna (husband: Frank) Utt of Springport, Kevin (wife: Mary Ellen) Brausa of Shirley and Jon (wife: Alice) Brausa of Brownsville, IN; eleven grandchildren; several great grandchildren; a half- brother: Randall Brausa of Washington.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife: Agnes Marie “Aggie” Brausa in 1995.

Visitation for Carl will be held from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, March 8, 2009 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at Billett Methodist Church in Bridgeport, Illinois. Burial will follow in Billett Cemetery. Friends may also call from 5-8 p.m. Monday, March 9, 2009 at Cunningham Funeral Home in Bridgeport, IL. Military rites will be conducted in Bridgeport, Illinois. Memorial contributions may be given to the Henry County Humane Society with envelopes available at the funeral home. Online condolences may be made at www.hinsey-brown.com .
