Carl Calloway

March 4, 1918 — February 24, 2012

Carl Calloway, 93, passed away Friday, February 24, 2012 at Pleasant View Lodge in McCordsville. He was born March 3, 1918 to the late William and Bessie Calloway.

Carl lived in West Virginia most of his life until he moved to Fortville, Indiana about 8 years ago, to be close to family. He had worked in the coal mines in West Virginia.

He is survived by his wife of over 70 years, Helen Calloway of McCordsville; 3 children: Brenda Friend of Indianapolis; Jerry (Linda) Calloway of Beckley, WV; David (Chris) Calloway of Lebanon, IN; 23 grandchildren; many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents, 4 sons: Carl Jr., Michael, Kelly and Phillip Calloway; 2 daughters: Betty Lewis and Judy Kay Calloway; 4 brothers: Clifford, Clyde, Bill and Earl Calloway; and a sister: Nellie Farmer.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at Gravel Lawn Cemetery in Fortville, IN and with the Reverend Kent Jordan officiating. Friends may call at the cemetery from 10-11 a.m. at the graveside prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Christian Tabernacle, 802 South Franklin Road, Indianapolis, IN 46239.
